Leadership Philosophy

My leadership is grounded in integrity, clarity, and a deep commitment to the mission of Scouting. I believe strong councils are built through disciplined decision‑making, transparent communication, and meaningful relationships with the communities we serve. As a Scout Executive, my focus is on creating an environment where staff, volunteers, and youth can thrive.

Lead with Integrity and Sound Judgment

I make thoughtful, principled decisions, especially in complex or difficult situations. Integrity is the foundation of trust, and trust is the foundation of leadership. I strive to model the highest ethical standards in every interaction and every decision.

Be Visible, Present, and Engaged

A Scout Executive must be deeply connected to the communities they serve. I believe in showing up, in neighborhoods, civic spaces, boardrooms, and volunteer gatherings. Visibility builds credibility, and credibility builds partnerships that strengthen Scouting.

Build a Supportive, High‑Performing Teams

I lead with empathy, clarity, and accountability. Teams deserve a leader who listens, supports their growth, and provides the structure needed to succeed. I invest in professional development, encourage collaboration, and create an environment where people feel valued and empowered.

Work with Discipline, Focus, and Purpose

Strong councils require disciplined planning, clear priorities, and consistent execution. I bring a tenacious work ethic, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering results that advance the mission and strengthen long‑term sustainability.

Think Strategically and Innovate Boldly

Scouting must evolve to meet the needs of today’s families. I embrace innovation, modernizing operations, leveraging technology, and developing contemporary programs that expand Scouting’s reach. Strategy and creativity must work hand‑in‑hand.

Strengthen Financial Sustainability

Financial stewardship is central to the Scout Executive role. I prioritize transparency, strong internal controls, diversified revenue, and disciplined budgeting. A financially strong council can grow, innovate, and serve more youth.

Model Collaboration and Transparency

I believe in open communication, shared goals, and collective problem‑solving. Staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners should feel informed, respected, and included. Collaboration builds alignment, and alignment builds momentum.

Maintain and Strengthen an Inclusive Culture

Pathway to Adventure Council reflects the diversity of the communities it serves. My commitment is to maintain that strength, protect it, and expand Scouting access in under‑resourced neighborhoods. Inclusion is not a program, it is a leadership responsibility.

Deliver Exceptional Service to Youth and Volunteers

Every decision must center on the experience of youth and adult leaders. I believe in delivering first‑class customer service to families, volunteers, staff, and partners. When people feel supported, they stay engaged and Scouting grows.

Lead with Balance and Purpose

I strive to model a healthy balance between work, family, and community and encourage my team to do the same. Leadership is not only about results, it is about how we treat people, how we show up, and how we inspire others to do their best work.

Commit to Lifelong Learning

The world is changing quickly and leaders must stay contemporary. I am committed to continuous learning, curiosity, and growth for myself and for the organizations I serve.
