A Look at Who I am and What I Stand For
I am a lifelong Scout and Scouter whose life has been shaped by the values, experiences, and relationships that Scouting creates. As an Eagle Scout, I grew up in a program that taught me leadership, resilience, and service; lessons that have guided my personal life and my professional career. Every role I have held in Scouting has deepened my belief in the movement’s ability to change lives and strengthen communities.
My career has been dedicated to ensuring that young people have access to the same opportunities that shaped me. I have led councils through periods of change, strengthened financial sustainability, expanded community partnerships, and worked to make Scouting more accessible to youth in under‑resourced neighborhoods. I believe in Scouting’s mission, and I believe in its future.
Family is central to who I am. My wife, Lindsey, and I have built our lives around shared experiences in the outdoors, including camping, hiking, snowboarding, and exploring new places with our sons, Dustin and Cameron. Some of our most meaningful memories come from Scouting: serving on staff at the 2017 National Jamboree, and hiking the backcountry of Philmont together as advisers in 2019. Seeing the impact of Scouting on my own children reinforces my commitment to ensuring that every young person has access to the same opportunities.
Both Dustin and Cameron are Eagle Scouts and now pursuing their own paths. Dustin recently married Ahja, his middle-school sweetheart. He is in his second year of a PhD program and has begun working on a research project based out of the Argonne National Laboratory. Cameron is his final year at Ohio University studying Fish and Wildlife Management and spends his summers traveling the country as a commercial flooring installer. Lindsey and I are proud of the men they have become and excited for this next chapter in our lives.
As I look toward the next stage of my Scouting career, I am motivated by the opportunity to serve communities where my experience, relationships, and leadership can make a meaningful difference. I am passionate about Scouting America, committed to its mission, and ready to help strengthen its impact across Chicago and Northwest Indiana.
